If you decide to become an oocyte donor, you need to know that the donation program:

  • does not change your usual way of life;
  • does not require any additional skills;
  • will not take much time;
  • will not harm your health.

Requirements for egg donors

Any healthy woman between the ages of 18 and 29 can be an egg donor, if she:

  • has her own healthy child;
  • has a good physical and mental health;
  • does not have hereditary diseases and bad habits.

Requirements for sperm donors

Any healthy man between the ages of 20 and 40 can become a sperm donor, if he:

  • has his own healthy child;
  • has a good physical and mental health;
  • does not have hereditary diseases and bad habits.

Requirements for sperm donors before donating biological material:

  • 3-4 days of sexual abstinence;
  • do not use alcoholic and tobacco products;
  • refuse from visiting saunas and baths;
  • do not take any medication.

Screening for participation in the donor program

  • Blood test (blood type, Rh factor, HIV, RW, for the presence of markers of hepatitis B, C, biochemical blood test, for blood coagulation);
  • General urine analysis;
  • Gynecological examination;
  • Oncocytological smear from the cervix;
  • A smear for the degree of vaginal cleanliness;
  • Karyotype research;
  • Molecular genetic testing for cystic fibrosis carriage;
  • Detection of Ig G and M to toxoplasmosis, rubella, cytomegalovirus, herpes virus;
  • Bacteriological examination of the cervical canal material for chlamydia, mycoplasma;
  • Fluorography;
  • Examination by a therapist and a conclusion about the status of health and the absence of contraindications to surgery;
  • Certificate from a psychiatrist and a narcologist;
  • A certificate from a pediatrician about the health status of children.

How does the egg donation program work?

  • The ovulation of the oocyte donor is stimulated. The donor is injected with drugs for the growth and maturation of eggs. The dosage of the drug for the donor is selected individually. Every 2-3 days, a control ultrasound scan is performed to assess the growth and size of the follicles.
  • Ovarian puncture. Oocytes are collected under general short-term anesthesia. The procedure is carried out under the control of an ultrasound sensor. The procedure is painless and lasts about 10-15 minutes.


Information about the identity of the gamete donor (egg or sperm) is anonymous. The donor also does not receive information about the patients for whom the gametes are intended. The clinic signs an agreement with the donor on participation in the donation program. Donors who participate in the program receive material compensation and free examination.

Legislative standards

The procedure for donating gametes is enshrined in Ukrainian legislation, in the Order of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine No. 787 dated 09.09.2013 "On approval of the Procedure for the use of assisted reproductive technologies in Ukraine."
